Greg Rennie is a bipolar disorder specialist with 20 years’ experience as a therapist in the field of mental health and addiction. As an entrepreneur, he founded the startup, ‘Focus Mental Wellness’ in 2015, one of Canada’s first online therapy companies. In 2023, he left the company to build his private practice, Rennie Clinical Services and the brand, ‘Bipolar Disorder Therapy’.
He is a member of The Village Hive and uses our Wellness Space at our Eglinton coworking location to see his clients. Let’s learn a little more about Greg!
What is one of your favourite books/movies?
Oh wow. I love movies so that’s a tough question. Older movies, like Citizen Kane or Godfather II. Recently, Hit Man was quite good. Regarding books, my favourite book is an autobiography, “Life” by Keith Richards.
Do you have a favorite quote to share?
This is my favourite quote.” I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” – Henry David Thoreau
What do you do when you’re not working?
I take Saturdays off and it’s a no-screen day so I binge on old episodes of the ‘Twilight Zone’ TV series, escape into the zone and turn off all phones and laptops. It’s tough not to check emails but very important that I too look after my mental wellness and power down for a day.
How has joining The Village Hive helped your practice OR What do you like about The Village Hive.
There’s been a huge benefit joining The Village Hive. Clients are now asking for in-person appointments post-covid. They also like the offices and the furniture. I had a client say, “Wow! This office is so cool.” Personally, I like going into an office again and I’ve been very impressed with Mitch and Charlotte and the wellness centre concept. A great idea for therapists as many of us are ‘hybrid’ now. I see my clients in-person as well as use my laptop in the office to see clients virtually, online.
