Coworking Member Spotlight – Introducing Sebastian Cortes!

Sebastian Cortes, a member of The Village Hive Duncan Mill

The main goal of our Member Monday series is to learn more about our coworking community. Sure we know how they keep their office, the days they book hot desks and their favourite coffee cup, but there is so much that we don’t know! By interviewing various members from different locations, it brings our TVH community closer together and fosters a more collaborative workplace.

This week, we interviewed Sebastian Cortes, a member of The Duncan Mill Hive. ___________________________________________________________________

What do you do?

I work as a Front-end Developer for an Australian company, where I am developing a B2B Trading Solution for Suppliers and Retailers. Other than that, I also run my own web design and development business called nevolu.com. We create outstanding web experiences for businesses and entrepreneurs.

What inspires you at work?

Seeing how my skills can help others grow their businesses . Together we contribute to a brighter and more exciting future.

How did you get into Web Development?

I was given the chance to make a website for a small project. Although it was challenging, since I had never done it before, I became very passionate about it. From there, I learned how to make websites and how to code complicated app features for large corporate businesses. I have enjoyed the ride so far.

What’s a valuable lesson you’ve learned recently?

In life and business, trust is more important than anything.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A professional soccer player! I would still like to hahaha:)

What is your superpower?

I’m positive and excited about the future 99% of the time.

Do you speak any other languages?

I am a native Spanish speaker, a decent English speaker and can understand very basic Japanese.

What advice would you give to yourself at age 15?

Learn how money works and be smart when using it.

What’s your favourite restaurant/thing to do in the area?

I enjoy walking through the IKEA showcases and then going for some food and coffee at their food court!

What do you do when you’re not here coworking?

Every since I joined The Hive, I feel like I am always coworking! Besides that, I enjoy going out for delicious food with my partner. Additionally, I enjoy training for Muay Thai twice a week , which has been a really cool activity for my fitness.

What is your favourite thing about TVH Duncan Mill?

TVH Duncan Mill has surrounded me with great people who I feel comfortable talking to. After working from home for almost two and a half years, I got to a point where I could not separate my work life from my personal life. This made my days boring, lonely and repetitive, as if the pride and enthusiasm of working were fading away. Now, working at TVH has made me feel renovated and excited about coming to work!

Anything else you want to share?

Thank you for reading! I hope to have the chance to meet more members of the community in the future. ________________________________________________________
