We are pleased to introduce you to one of our Duncan Mill office members in North York.
Meet Emily Kim who has been part of our community since February 2022.
What type of work do you do, Emily?
I’m the Front Desk Receptionist at Kenny Kim Landscaping and JB Kim & Sons. (Hive note: She’s always smiling and laughing – such a pleasure to have her working here.)
What inspires you at work?
The ability to help others beautify their everyday living spaces and by making connections with multiple different types of people.
How did you get your current job?
This position was graciously offered to me by my Dad (Kenny Kim) and extended family.
What is a valuable lesson you’ve learned recently?
Humility and kindness are important habits to practice with those who you love dearly.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always admired my elementary school teachers, especially their abilities to educate others with patience. As a result, becoming a teacher was one of my childhood dreams.
Do you speak any other languages?
I can pretend to speak fluent Korean, however, I would like to someday learn to speak it and use it in my current career.
What advice would you give to yourself at age 15?
I would tell my 15 yr old self to care less about the opinions of those who do not have the best intentions for me.
What’s your favourite restaurant/thing to do in the area?
In North York, my favourite restaurant is Daldognae Korean BBQ (they have several locations throughout North York and the GTA). If you have been looking to try Korean-style barbecue where you can cook your food right at your table!
What do you do when you’re not here coworking?
After work, I enjoy going to taekwondo to train students and myself for upcoming exams and tournaments. On other days, I love to spend time with my dog Chester!
What is your favourite thing about The Village Hive Duncan Mill in North York?
The welcoming and friendly environment always makes me feel right at home at The Village Hive. While I am working here, I feel valued as a member in this wonderful community!
